The Opportunity:
As the Head of PE, you will lead the development and delivery of a dynamic and holistic PE curriculum for Key Stages 3 and 4. This is an exciting opportunity for a visionary leader to drive excellence in physical education, support student achievement, and potentially introduce GCSE PE in the future.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver a high-quality, holistic PE curriculum that promotes student success and lifelong learning.
- Work closely with the Trust Director of Sport to implement teaching and learning projects.
- Lead and manage the PE department, ensuring outstanding outcomes in KS3/4.
- Coordinate and support a wide range of extracurricular sports activities and competitions.
- Assess student progress cognitively, physically, and socially.
- Promote competition and positive attitudes across all PE activities.
- Analyze student results to inform teaching strategies and improve outcomes.
- Collaborate with colleagues to raise achievement and support whole-school initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A good degree in a relevant subject.
- Knowledge of the National Curriculum requirements for Key Stage 4.
- Understanding of recent curriculum and learning developments.
- Experience in motivating and engaging students across all ability levels.
- Ability to assess, record, and report student learning effectively.
- Experience in using student results to inform practice and target improvement.
- Experience of leading a tutor group.
- Commitment to self-improvement and reflective practice.
- Energy and enthusiasm for teaching and student success.
Preferred
- Experience in curriculum leadership or department management.
- Experience in introducing new qualifications such as GCSE PE.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Experience with extracurricular sports programs and competition management.
