The Opportunity:

As the Head of PE, you will lead the development and delivery of a dynamic and holistic PE curriculum for Key Stages 3 and 4. This is an exciting opportunity for a visionary leader to drive excellence in physical education, support student achievement, and potentially introduce GCSE PE in the future.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver a high-quality, holistic PE curriculum that promotes student success and lifelong learning.
  • Work closely with the Trust Director of Sport to implement teaching and learning projects.
  • Lead and manage the PE department, ensuring outstanding outcomes in KS3/4.
  • Coordinate and support a wide range of extracurricular sports activities and competitions.
  • Assess student progress cognitively, physically, and socially.
  • Promote competition and positive attitudes across all PE activities.
  • Analyze student results to inform teaching strategies and improve outcomes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to raise achievement and support whole-school initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A good degree in a relevant subject.
  • Knowledge of the National Curriculum requirements for Key Stage 4.
  • Understanding of recent curriculum and learning developments.
  • Experience in motivating and engaging students across all ability levels.
  • Ability to assess, record, and report student learning effectively.
  • Experience in using student results to inform practice and target improvement.
  • Experience of leading a tutor group.
  • Commitment to self-improvement and reflective practice.
  • Energy and enthusiasm for teaching and student success.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum leadership or department management.
  • Experience in introducing new qualifications such as GCSE PE.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Experience with extracurricular sports programs and competition management.
