The Opportunity:

As the Head of Drama, you will lead a vibrant and dynamic department, shaping the future of drama education and performance within the school. This is an exciting opportunity for an entrepreneurial and passionate individual to make a significant impact on students and the broader school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all aspects of academic drama and co-curricular activities across all key stages.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching, including A Level, and collaborate with other performing arts disciplines such as Music and Dance.
  • Oversee a well-established LAMDA provision, engaging over 150 students annually.
  • Organize and lead formal and informal performances, as well as external festivals and competitions.
  • Develop and support a drama scholars programme, including professional placements and career pathways.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, encouraging colleagues and students to contribute to productions and events.
  • Explore opportunities for commercial provision, including weekend and holiday workshops.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in leading drama departments at all key stages.
  • Strong teaching experience across A Level and GCSE.
  • Passion for drama and theatre with a commitment to co-curricular engagement.
  • Ability to manage and develop a large LAMDA programme.
  • Experience in organizing and leading performances and events.

Preferred

  • Experience in developing commercial or extra-curricular drama provision.
  • Background in directing or producing plays and musicals.
  • Familiarity with Trinity Arts Award programmes.
  • Experience in mentoring and developing students in backstage and technical roles.
