The Opportunity:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated PE Teacher for SEND to join our team. This role is central to promoting physical education and wellbeing among students with special educational needs. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting students’ development through engaging and inclusive PE lessons.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality, inclusive PE lessons tailored to the individual needs and abilities of students.
- Plan and prepare engaging and age-appropriate physical education programs.
- Assess, record, and report on student progress and attainment in PE.
- Ensure the safety, wellbeing, and discipline of all students during lessons and activities.
- Collaborate with other staff members to support student learning and development.
- Communicate regularly with parents and carers to update them on student progress and involvement in PE.
- Participate in professional development and training opportunities to enhance teaching practice.
- Promote a positive, active lifestyle and encourage physical fitness among students.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS)
- Experience teaching in a special educational needs setting
- Ability to teach GCSE PE
- Knowledge of the National Curriculum and its application to PE
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing
Preferred
- Experience working with students with autism and complex needs
- Experience in designing and delivering inclusive PE programs
- Familiarity with EHCPs and individual education plans
- Proactive approach to professional development and continuous learning
