Summary:

About the School:

A school dedicated to supporting academically able autistic students with complex needs, including ADHD. It is NAS accredited and Ofsted rated 'Good', providing a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment for students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP).

The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs in a dynamic and supportive environment. You will work closely with teachers and senior leadership to ensure that students receive the individualized support they need to thrive academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of learning activities in a range of classroom settings, including working with individual pupils as directed.
  • Understand and apply knowledge of child development to support pupils' learning and well-being.
  • Use ICT effectively to assist with classroom management and support.
  • Encourage and motivate students to achieve their full potential, promoting self-esteem and confidence.
  • Contribute to the marking of pupils’ work and maintain accurate records of their progress.
  • Ensure compliance with the school’s policies, including Health and Safety and Child Protection guidelines.
  • Stay up to date with the SEN Code of Practice and other relevant procedures.
  • Participate in team meetings and collaborate with staff to support the overall ethos of the school.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with students with special educational needs, including autism and ADHD.
  • Understanding of child development and the impact of learning difficulties on students.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use ICT for classroom and management support.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school setting, ideally within a special educational needs environment.
  • Familiarity with the SEN Code of Practice and related policies.
  • Experience in marking and recording student progress.
  • Knowledge of autism and best practices for supporting students on the autism spectrum.
