The Opportunity:

A Head of Economics is needed to lead and develop the Economics department at KS5. This is a key role in shaping the future of Economics education and inspiring students to pursue the subject at A Level. The successful candidate will be a passionate and experienced teacher, committed to delivering outstanding outcomes and curriculum innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the KS5 Economics department
  • Develop and deliver engaging and challenging schemes of work
  • Oversee curriculum planning and assessment strategies
  • Promote Economics to KS4 students and encourage uptake at KS5
  • Ensure the Economics provision aligns with national developments
  • Organise mock exams and liaise with the exams officer
  • Monitor student progress and identify intervention needs
  • Support colleagues through professional development and mentorship

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in teaching Economics at A Level
  • Strong track record in delivering outstanding student outcomes
  • Leadership experience in a school or college setting
  • Excellent curriculum planning and assessment skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or team
  • Knowledge of current developments in Economics education
  • Experience with extracurricular activities or pastoral roles
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
