The Opportunity:
As a Staff Counsellor Volunteer, you will provide essential emotional support to staff in a safe and confidential environment. This role is vital in promoting mental wellbeing and creating a supportive workplace culture. Your work will help staff navigate personal and professional challenges with empathy and care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide confidential emotional support to staff in a warm and accepting environment.
- Offer reflective and non-judgmental listening to help staff explore difficult feelings and life events.
- Apply person-centred principles of empathy, congruency, and unconditional positive regard in all interactions.
- Work collaboratively with the school to ensure a supportive and compassionate workplace.
- Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in all aspects of the role.
- Support staff in managing stress, anxiety, and other emotional concerns.
- Reflect on and develop personal practice through ongoing professional development.
- Contribute to the school’s commitment to staff wellbeing and mental health.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Relevant qualifications in counselling or a related field.
- Experience in providing emotional support and counselling services.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work confidentially and ethically.
- Commitment to the principles of person-centred counselling.
Preferred
- Experience in a school or educational setting.
- Knowledge of the UK National Curriculum and educational systems.
- Experience with staff wellbeing and mental health support.
- Flexibility and availability to meet the needs of the school community.
