The Opportunity:
As the Head of English Faculty, you will lead a dedicated and accomplished team, driving excellence in teaching and learning across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the English faculty, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all key stages.
- Analyze student performance data to implement effective intervention strategies and raise attainment.
- Support and develop staff through mentoring, performance appraisals, and departmental CPD.
- Manage departmental operations, including budget oversight and resource allocation.
- Design, implement, and evaluate a knowledge-rich curriculum aligned with the school’s vision.
- Maintain high standards of classroom behaviour and promote a positive learning environment.
- Encourage and lead extra-curricular activities to enrich the student experience.
- Collaborate with leadership to ensure the school’s academic and strategic goals are met.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS).
- Proven leadership experience within an English department, such as Head of Department or Key Stage Coordinator.
- Experience in analyzing student performance data and implementing effective interventions.
- Experience in supporting and developing staff, including mentoring Early Career Teachers.
- Ability to manage departmental operations, including budget and resources.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
Preferred
- Experience in leading departmental CPD and performance appraisals.
- A clear vision for curriculum design and implementation.
- Experience with teaching across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
- Strong understanding of evidence-based teaching and successful classroom practice.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary within the Outer London Main / Upper Pay Range.
- Additional TLR 1/2 payment of £13,012 per annum.
