The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Head of EYFS to lead and inspire our early years department. This role is central to shaping the educational experience of young children and ensuring the highest standards of care and learning. The successful candidate will have a strong influence on curriculum development and staff training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the EYFS department, ensuring compliance with statutory frameworks and school policies.
  • Oversee the planning, delivery, and assessment of the EYFS curriculum across all early years classes.
  • Conduct regular learning environment reviews, lesson visits, and assessments to ensure quality teaching and learning.
  • Coordinate educational visits, guest speakers, and enrichment activities to enhance the curriculum.
  • Support colleagues through meetings, workshops, and training sessions on EYFS best practices.
  • Deliver parent workshops and maintain strong communication with families regarding children’s progress and development.
  • Take responsibility for the weekly Reception Class newsletter and contribute to the School Self-Evaluation and Development Plan.
  • Ensure the welfare and safety of all pupils, maintaining high standards of care and communication with parents.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant Early Years experience.
  • Strong knowledge of the EYFS curriculum and statutory requirements.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in leading and managing a team within an educational setting.
  • Commitment to the school’s values, policies, and ethos.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading through an ISI inspection process.
  • Background in performing arts, music, or language teaching.
  • Experience with paediatric first aid training.
  • Familiarity with the IAPS framework and school inspection processes.
