Head of Finance role available at a leading institution. Lead the finance team with strategic oversight and operational excellence.

The Opportunity:

As the Head of Finance, you will lead and manage the finance team, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. You will serve as the primary contact for the finance function and maintain strong relationships with external auditors. This role is pivotal in supporting the school’s financial health and strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead the finance team, including the Management Accountant, Sales Ledger & Fees Officer, Purchase Ledger Officer, and Payroll Officer.
  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all financial outputs and reports.
  • Act as the main point of contact for the finance function and maintain relationships with the auditor.
  • Oversee payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial compliance.
  • Support the Bursar in the strategic management of the school’s financial operations.
  • Monitor and improve financial processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to senior management and the board.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and internal policies.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a finance or accounting role.
  • Strong background in financial management, including payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Experience in managing a finance team and overseeing financial operations.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Knowledge of financial systems and software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Experience in the education sector or not-for-profit organizations.
  • Qualifications in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Experience with financial auditing processes.
  • Familiarity with school-specific financial systems and reporting requirements.
