The Opportunity:
The Assistant Director of Music will play a pivotal role in shaping the artistic and educational vision of the department. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced musician and educator to contribute to a dynamic and innovative music programme that supports students of all abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and develop a wide range of music ensembles, including choirs, bands, and orchestras.
- Deliver high-quality teaching and support to students across all levels, from GCSE to A Level and beyond.
- Coordinate and oversee the school’s extensive concert programme, including themed events and showcases.
- Collaborate with the Director of Music to shape the department’s strategic direction and educational goals.
- Support the development of students’ musical talents through individual and group instruction.
- Promote inclusivity by overseeing the school’s unique music scholarship programme.
- Ensure the smooth running of all music-related activities, including rehearsals, performances, and events.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A degree in Music or a related field.
- Experience teaching Music at the Secondary level.
- Strong musical skills and experience in directing bands, ensembles, or choirs.
- Commitment to contributing to a vibrant and extensive co-curricular music programme.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the Director of Music and other staff members.
Preferred
- Keyboard skills.
- Experience in music composition or performance.
- Familiarity with music technology and digital tools.
- Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.
