The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and visionary Head of French to lead and develop the French department within a dynamic and successful Modern Foreign Languages Faculty. This role offers the opportunity to shape curriculum development and inspire students and colleagues alike.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop the French department across all key stages.
• Deliver high-quality teaching and learning experiences to students of all ages.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of the school’s curriculum.
• Support and mentor other members of the MFL Faculty.
• Take an active role in the school’s extracurricular programme.
• Collaborate with colleagues to enhance student achievement and engagement.
• Participate in the pastoral system as a tutor or support tutor.
• Stay up to date with developments in French education and pedagogy.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• Recognised teaching qualification.
• Degree-level qualification in French or a relevant subject.
• Proven experience teaching French across the age range from KS3 to KS5.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and innovate in curriculum development.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to professional learning and development.

Preferred

• Experience teaching an additional language such as Spanish or German.
• Experience in subject leadership.
• Experience of teaching the IB Diploma.
• Experience in overseeing curriculum review projects.
