The Opportunity:
As the Head of French, you will lead a dynamic and academically rigorous subject that plays a central role in promoting linguistic confidence and global awareness. This is an opportunity to shape a curriculum that is both intellectually challenging and culturally rich, while inspiring pupils to achieve fluency and a deep understanding of French-speaking cultures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the French curriculum across the Senior School, ensuring it is both academically rigorous and culturally engaging.
- Inspire pupils to achieve fluency, grammatical accuracy, and confidence in communication.
- Foster a genuine interest in the cultures, histories, and societies of the French-speaking world.
- Develop and lead enrichment activities, including trips and partnerships that promote authentic language use.
- Support the delivery of examination courses and contribute to the wider academic life of the school.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high academic standards and create a supportive learning environment.
- Promote continuous improvement in teaching and learning practices within the department.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Excellent classroom practice with a strong subject expertise in French.
- Experience in leading a department or taking on a leadership role in teaching.
- A commitment to academic rigour and cultural engagement.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
Preferred
- Experience with curriculum development and enrichment activities.
- Familiarity with teaching French at GCSE and A level.
- Experience in fostering discussion and promoting global awareness through language learning.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary range of £47,344–£63,133, dependent on experience.
