The Opportunity:
As the Head of Futures, you will lead and develop a coherent, ambitious and forward-thinking programme that supports pupils in making informed and ambitious decisions about their future. This role is central to ensuring students are equipped with knowledge of UCAS, apprenticeships, and universities, as well as the confidence and experiences to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a strategic, forward-thinking programme for pupils across all age groups.
- Oversee the delivery of the World of Work Programme and Round Square Coordination.
- Ensure pupils are informed and prepared for the UCAS process, apprenticeships, and university applications.
- Develop and implement initiatives related to financial literacy, volunteering, service, and outreach.
- Support the transition of Sixth Form students to higher education and the world of work.
- Coordinate and enhance co-curricular activities that promote personal development and future readiness.
- Provide strategic leadership in shaping the school’s approach to careers education and progression.
- Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff to ensure a consistent and impactful programme.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Strong strategic and proactive approach with experience in careers education, progression, or post-16/18 guidance.
- Excellent knowledge of UK progression routes, including university and apprenticeships.
- Strong organisational and project management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience working with young people in an educational context.
- Experience in an independent school setting is preferred.
Preferred
- Experience in developing and leading large-scale educational programmes.
- Strong leadership and team management experience.
- Knowledge of financial literacy and career development frameworks.
- Experience in coordinating international or global education initiatives.
