The Opportunity:

The Project Worker - EBSA Unit plays a vital role in supporting young people who have experienced Emotionally Based School Avoidance. This role involves delivering engaging pastoral sessions, acting as a link worker, and collaborating with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure young people can access education and develop essential life skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support young people in accessing and engaging with the pastoral curriculum
  • Plan and deliver structured sessions tailored to the needs of the students
  • Act as a key link worker between young people, parents, carers, and external professionals
  • Collaborate with education colleagues to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment
  • Work closely with the multi-disciplinary team, including therapy and family support services
  • Provide guidance and support to help students develop social skills and coping strategies
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all young people within the EBSA provision
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Previous experience working with young people
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Commitment to supporting young people with complex social, emotional, and mental health needs
  • Resilience, patience, and tolerance in a demanding and complex environment

Preferred

  • Experience in therapeutic or pastoral support settings
  • Knowledge of therapeutic crisis intervention techniques
  • Experience with Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA) provision
  • Understanding of educational frameworks and pastoral care models
