The Opportunity:
The Head of GCSE plays a vital role in shaping the academic and pastoral experience of students. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead and manage GCSE provision with a focus on student success, engagement, and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interview prospective GCSE students and provide professional feedback to the Admissions team.
- Ensure student records are accurate, complete, and up to date, including medical, pastoral, and safeguarding information.
- Liaise with the Senior Leadership Team on curriculum matters and contribute to relevant committees.
- Work closely with the SENCo to support students with additional needs.
- Monitor student academic progress and prepare reports for parents, staff, and senior leaders.
- Identify students requiring academic, pastoral, or behavioural interventions and coordinate support.
- Oversee the delivery of RSE, PSHE, and SMSC provision for GCSE students.
- Maintain oversight of the GCSE timetable and resolve operational issues as required.
- Promote high standards of conduct, attendance, and engagement across the GCSE cohort.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Confidence in dealing with students, parents, and staff
- Strong pastoral instincts and sound professional judgement
- Experience in secondary or GCSE education, pastoral leadership, or student management
- Experience of safeguarding operations and policy compliance
- Confidence in handling data and producing clear reports
Preferred
- Teaching experience
- Experience in leading and managing student cohorts
- Experience with safeguarding training and procedures
- Experience with curriculum development and delivery
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary range of £60,000–£70,000 per annum
