The Opportunity:

As the Head of Geography, you will lead a dynamic and innovative department dedicated to delivering a high-quality, knowledge-rich curriculum. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the Geography department to ensure a stimulating, knowledge-rich curriculum across all National Curriculum levels.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to design and deliver a curriculum that inspires curiosity and critical thinking in students.
  • Monitor and support student progress through half-termly assessments and targeted interventions.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and reflective practice within the department.
  • Work closely with the Leadership Team to ensure alignment with the school’s vision and strategic goals.
  • Support the professional development of Geography teachers and students alike.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and achievement.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A good degree and Qualified Teacher Status.
  • Strong subject knowledge and understanding of the National Curriculum.
  • Proven ability to inspire and motivate students across a range of abilities.
  • Commitment to high standards of teaching, learning, and assessment.
  • Reflective approach with a drive for continuous improvement.
  • Commitment to the ethos and values of the school.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or team.
  • Experience with curriculum development and research.
  • Experience in delivering CPD and supporting staff growth.
  • Experience with National Professional Qualifications (NPQs).
