The Opportunity:
As the Head of Humanities, you will lead and inspire a dedicated team to deliver high-quality education that challenges and motivates students. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of the department and enhancing student outcomes across the school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Humanities department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning
- Develop and implement a curriculum that meets the needs of all students and promotes academic excellence
- Support staff through professional development and mentorship opportunities
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, using assessment data to inform teaching strategies
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and achievement
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align departmental goals with school-wide priorities
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in teaching practices
- Ensure effective communication with parents, students, and colleagues
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven leadership experience in a school setting, ideally within a humanities department
- Strong subject knowledge in Humanities, with the ability to deliver high-quality lessons
- Experience in curriculum development and assessment strategies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to student wellbeing and inclusive education
Preferred
- Experience in leading departmental improvement and staff development
- Familiarity with Ofsted standards and school inspection processes
- Knowledge of educational technologies and innovative teaching methods
- Experience in extracurricular programme development
