The Opportunity:

As the Head of Humanities, you will lead and inspire a dedicated team to deliver high-quality education that challenges and motivates students. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of the department and enhancing student outcomes across the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Humanities department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning
  • Develop and implement a curriculum that meets the needs of all students and promotes academic excellence
  • Support staff through professional development and mentorship opportunities
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, using assessment data to inform teaching strategies
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and achievement
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align departmental goals with school-wide priorities
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in teaching practices
  • Ensure effective communication with parents, students, and colleagues

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a school setting, ideally within a humanities department
  • Strong subject knowledge in Humanities, with the ability to deliver high-quality lessons
  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment strategies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to student wellbeing and inclusive education

Preferred

  • Experience in leading departmental improvement and staff development
  • Familiarity with Ofsted standards and school inspection processes
  • Knowledge of educational technologies and innovative teaching methods
  • Experience in extracurricular programme development
