The Opportunity:
As Head of Humanities, you will play a key role in shaping the future of the curriculum and inspiring students to achieve their best. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and experienced leader who is passionate about education and committed to raising standards in History and Geography.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support a team of dedicated staff, promoting high standards of teaching and learning.
- Develop and evaluate the curriculum in History, Geography, RE, Travel and Tourism to ensure it aligns with the school’s vision.
- Raise student engagement and attainment in History through innovative and effective teaching practices.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the school to ensure a cohesive and impactful curriculum.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to support the professional development of staff.
- Implement strategies to improve student outcomes and achievement across the Humanities department.
- Work closely with senior leadership to contribute to the strategic development of the school.
- Ensure the delivery of a curriculum that promotes resilience, growth mindset, and positive discipline.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in leading a department within a secondary school setting.
- Strong subject knowledge in History and Geography.
- Excellent leadership and management skills.
- Experience in curriculum development and evaluation.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Ability to inspire and motivate both students and colleagues.
Preferred
- Experience in a Multi-Academy Trust or similar educational setting.
- Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language.
- Strong record of raising student achievement and attainment.
- Experience in leading whole-school initiatives or projects.
- High level of expertise in pedagogical practice and continuous professional development.
