As Head of Humanities, you will play a key role in shaping the future of the curriculum and inspiring students to achieve their best. Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and support a team of dedicated staff, promoting high standards of teaching and learning.
• Develop and evaluate the curriculum in History, Geography, RE, Travel and Tourism to ensure it aligns with the school’s vision.
• Raise student engagement and attainment in History through innovative and effective teaching practices.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the school to ensure a cohesive and impactful curriculum.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to support the professional development of staff.
• Implement strategies to improve student outcomes and achievement across the Humanities department.
• Work closely with senior leadership to contribute to the strategic development of the school.
• Ensure the delivery of a curriculum that promotes resilience, growth mindset, and positive discipline.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• Proven experience in leading a department within a secondary school setting.
• Strong subject knowledge in History and Geography.
• Excellent leadership and management skills.
• Experience in curriculum development and evaluation.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
• Ability to inspire and motivate both students and colleagues.

Preferred

• Experience in a Multi-Academy Trust or similar educational setting.
• Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language.
• Strong record of raising student achievement and attainment.
• Experience in leading whole-school initiatives or projects.
• High level of expertise in pedagogical practice and continuous professional development.
