The Opportunity:

As the Head of Humanities, you will lead and develop the History, Geography, and Religious Studies departments, ensuring high-quality teaching and strong student outcomes. This is a key leadership role in a school on a rapid improvement journey, offering the chance to make a real difference in the lives of students and shape the future of the Humanities faculty.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the Humanities faculty with a clear strategic vision.
  • Ensure high-quality teaching and learning across History, Geography, and Religious Studies.
  • Monitor and improve student outcomes and progress in all Humanities subjects.
  • Work closely with senior leaders to embed consistency and raise standards.
  • Support and develop staff through professional learning and mentorship.
  • Develop and implement a strong, ambitious curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
  • Promote a culture of high expectations, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Represent the Humanities faculty at school and trust-wide meetings.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in History, Geography, and Religious Studies.
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery.
  • Ability to manage and develop a team of teachers.
  • Commitment to student achievement and high academic standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in a multi-academy trust or similar educational structure.
  • Experience with leading school improvement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with assessment and data analysis for curriculum improvement.
  • Experience in pastoral care or student support.
