The Opportunity:
As the Head of Humanities, you will lead and develop the History, Geography, and Religious Studies departments, ensuring high-quality teaching and strong student outcomes. This is a key leadership role in a school on a rapid improvement journey, offering the chance to make a real difference in the lives of students and shape the future of the Humanities faculty.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the Humanities faculty with a clear strategic vision.
- Ensure high-quality teaching and learning across History, Geography, and Religious Studies.
- Monitor and improve student outcomes and progress in all Humanities subjects.
- Work closely with senior leaders to embed consistency and raise standards.
- Support and develop staff through professional learning and mentorship.
- Develop and implement a strong, ambitious curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
- Promote a culture of high expectations, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Represent the Humanities faculty at school and trust-wide meetings.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven leadership experience in a school or educational setting.
- Strong subject knowledge in History, Geography, and Religious Studies.
- Experience in curriculum development and delivery.
- Ability to manage and develop a team of teachers.
- Commitment to student achievement and high academic standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred
- Experience in a multi-academy trust or similar educational structure.
- Experience with leading school improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with assessment and data analysis for curriculum improvement.
- Experience in pastoral care or student support.
