As the Head of Modern Foreign Languages, you will lead a dynamic and high-performing department, with a specialism in Spanish. This role offers the chance to shape a flagship curriculum and inspire both students and staff to achieve exceptional outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Champion Spanish excellence by overseeing a rigorous, creative curriculum that supports other languages such as French and German.
- Inspire and develop a team of passionate and committed linguists through leadership and mentorship.
- Drive outcomes by maintaining a strong record of progress and attainment across all key stages.
- Expand the extra-curricular offer to enhance student engagement and learning experiences.
- Use data and assessment to inform departmental strategies and interventions.
- Ensure that all students, regardless of ability, see the value and benefits of learning a second language.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the department.
- Support the school's mission to provide an outstanding education and foster global communication skills.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience teaching Spanish to Key Stage 5 students.
- Demonstrated leadership experience within a school setting.
- Strong data literacy and the ability to use assessment to drive improvement.
- Fluency in Spanish.
Preferred
- Working knowledge of a second language such as French or German.
- Experience in curriculum development and strategic planning.
- A track record of improving student outcomes and attainment.
- Experience in managing and mentoring a team of educators.
