The Opportunity:

The Head of ICT will lead the development and implementation of the ICT department, shaping a forward-thinking learning environment. This role is pivotal in driving innovation and ensuring the school remains at the forefront of educational technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement departmental policies aligned with the school’s vision and standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate short, medium, and long-term plans for the department’s growth.
  • Use data to identify underachieving students and create targeted support plans.
  • Analyse school data to inform departmental strategies and contribute to the School Evaluation Framework (SEF).
  • Develop, implement, and review schemes of work for all year groups and courses.
  • Ensure inclusive provision for SEN/POD, G&T, and EAL students.
  • Maintain curriculum continuity and progression for all students.
  • Establish clear policies for assessing and reporting student achievement.
  • Set high expectations for teaching standards and student behaviour.
  • Evaluate and improve the quality of teaching and learning practices.
  • Contribute to the school’s CAS Programme and after-school revision sessions.
  • Manage and develop the ICT team in line with school performance policies.
  • Ensure efficient deployment of staff and resources.
  • Monitor and control departmental budgets and resource allocation.
  • Maintain a safe and stimulating learning environment in line with health and safety policies.
  • Lead or support after-school activities and Model United Nations.
  • Act as an Academic Mentor and Extended Essay Supervisor.
  • Undertake examination invigilation and support the Examinations Officer.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related subject with PGCE or equivalent teacher qualification.
  • Minimum 6 years of teaching experience.
  • Experience working with students for whom English is not their first language.
  • Commitment to the well-being of children and a high level of professionalism.
  • Recent involvement in extra-curricular activities.
  • A clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check or police clearance.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading and managing a department.
  • Strong understanding of ICT curriculum and teaching strategies.
  • Familiarity with international education standards and practices.
  • Experience with assessment and reporting systems.
  • Leadership experience in student-led initiatives or extracurricular programs.
