The Opportunity:

The Head of Religious Studies Department will lead a team of specialist teachers and deliver high-quality Religious Studies across key stages. This role is ideal for someone passionate about education and committed to student achievement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead a team of Religious Studies specialists.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, including Philosophy and Ethics.
  • Ensure the attainment of all pupils through effective teaching and leadership.
  • Support the professional development of department members.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain high academic standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress and performance.
  • Contribute to the development of the curriculum and teaching strategies.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or proven track record in Religious Studies teaching across all key stages.
  • Experience in leading a department and managing a team of teachers.
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills.
  • Commitment to student attainment and academic excellence.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching Philosophy and Ethics at Key Stage 5.
  • Background in innovative teaching methods and curriculum development.
  • Experience with cross-curricular collaboration and project-based learning.
