The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dynamic and qualified Head of Learning Support to lead a thriving and well-resourced department. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting students with additional needs and will contribute positively to the co-curricular life of the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Learning Support department to ensure high standards of support for students.
  • Assess and advise on access arrangements for examinations, including Level 7 qualifications.
  • Develop and implement strategies to support students with diverse learning needs.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to ensure effective and inclusive teaching practices.
  • Provide professional development opportunities for support staff within the department.
  • Contribute to the co-curricular programme and school events throughout the academic year.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of learning support interventions.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on student progress and support.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified to Level 7 for assessing access arrangements.
  • Proven leadership experience in a Learning Support or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of special educational needs and inclusive teaching practices.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting with a strong co-curricular programme.
  • Experience with a range of learning support strategies and interventions.
  • Background in working with students across a wide age range (3–18).
  • Familiarity with independent school systems and expectations.
