The Opportunity:

As a Pastoral Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting students’ well-being and academic success. This role is central to ensuring that every young person feels valued and empowered to reach their full potential. The Pastoral Manager contributes to a school culture that is collaborative, compassionate, and focused on student growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective pastoral care strategies to support student well-being and academic success.
  • Collaborate with teaching and support staff to ensure a consistent and positive approach to student behaviour and engagement.
  • Provide guidance and support to students, parents, and colleagues on pastoral matters.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, identifying and addressing any barriers to learning or personal development.
  • Promote a culture of inclusivity, respect, and emotional resilience across the school community.
  • Attend and contribute to staff meetings, training sessions, and other pastoral-related events.
  • Liaise with external agencies and parents to support students’ needs and ensure a holistic approach to care.
  • Ensure that all pastoral activities align with the school’s mission and values.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a pastoral or student support role within an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • A commitment to the principles of inclusion, equality, and safeguarding.
  • Experience in managing and leading a team, with a focus on student well-being.
  • A relevant qualification in education or a related field, such as a degree or professional accreditation.

Preferred

  • Experience in working with diverse student populations, including those with additional needs.
  • Knowledge of child development and behaviour management strategies.
  • Experience in curriculum development or pastoral curriculum design.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding procedures and child protection policies.
  • Experience in leading or contributing to school improvement initiatives.
