The Opportunity:
As the Head of Mathematics, you will lead a team of subject specialists in delivering high-quality maths education and driving continuous improvement in teaching and learning outcomes. This is a key leadership role with the potential to make a significant impact on student achievement and teacher development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the maths department to ensure high-quality teaching and learning across all key stages.
- Work closely with the senior leadership team to drive improvements in maths standards and student outcomes.
- Manage and develop resources to support effective teaching and learning in mathematics.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of the maths department to ensure continuous improvement.
- Provide professional development and mentorship to maths teachers and support staff.
- Collaborate with external partners and subject advisers to enhance the maths curriculum and teaching practices.
- Promote a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement in mathematics education.
- Ensure the effective implementation of school-wide initiatives and strategies in maths.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a school or college setting, ideally in mathematics.
- Strong subject knowledge in mathematics and a commitment to raising standards in maths education.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate staff.
- Experience in curriculum development and assessment strategies.
- Ability to work collaboratively with senior leadership and other departments.
Preferred
- Experience in leading successful maths departments and driving improvements in student outcomes.
- Familiarity with the use of technology in maths education.
- Experience in teacher training and professional development.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
