The Opportunity:

As the Head of Mathematics, you will lead a team of subject specialists in delivering high-quality maths education and driving continuous improvement in teaching and learning outcomes. This is a key leadership role with the potential to make a significant impact on student achievement and teacher development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the maths department to ensure high-quality teaching and learning across all key stages.
  • Work closely with the senior leadership team to drive improvements in maths standards and student outcomes.
  • Manage and develop resources to support effective teaching and learning in mathematics.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the maths department to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Provide professional development and mentorship to maths teachers and support staff.
  • Collaborate with external partners and subject advisers to enhance the maths curriculum and teaching practices.
  • Promote a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement in mathematics education.
  • Ensure the effective implementation of school-wide initiatives and strategies in maths.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a school or college setting, ideally in mathematics.
  • Strong subject knowledge in mathematics and a commitment to raising standards in maths education.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate staff.
  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment strategies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with senior leadership and other departments.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading successful maths departments and driving improvements in student outcomes.
  • Familiarity with the use of technology in maths education.
  • Experience in teacher training and professional development.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
