Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the SENCo in developing and delivering strategies to meet the needs of students with special educational needs.
  • Work closely with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure individualised support plans are in place.
  • Monitor and review the progress of students with special educational needs and provide regular updates to the SENCo.
  • Organise and deliver training sessions for staff on SEND-related topics.
  • Contribute to the development of inclusive policies and practices across the school.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on student progress and interventions.
  • Support the implementation of the school’s inclusion strategy and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  • Assist in the coordination of external support services and assessments.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant experience in a similar role within a school or educational setting.
  • A strong understanding of special educational needs and disability legislation.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and student wellbeing.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading or supporting SENCo initiatives.
  • Knowledge of assessment and intervention strategies for students with special educational needs.
  • Experience with behaviour management and pastoral care.
  • Familiarity with the use of SEN software and record-keeping systems.
