As an Assistant SENCo, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students while contributing to a highly effective and supportive team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the SENCo in developing and delivering strategies to meet the needs of students with special educational needs.
- Work closely with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure individualised support plans are in place.
- Monitor and review the progress of students with special educational needs and provide regular updates to the SENCo.
- Organise and deliver training sessions for staff on SEND-related topics.
- Contribute to the development of inclusive policies and practices across the school.
- Maintain accurate records and reports on student progress and interventions.
- Support the implementation of the school’s inclusion strategy and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
- Assist in the coordination of external support services and assessments.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Relevant experience in a similar role within a school or educational setting.
- A strong understanding of special educational needs and disability legislation.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
- Commitment to inclusive education and student wellbeing.
Preferred
- Experience in leading or supporting SENCo initiatives.
- Knowledge of assessment and intervention strategies for students with special educational needs.
- Experience with behaviour management and pastoral care.
- Familiarity with the use of SEN software and record-keeping systems.
