The Opportunity:
As Head of Maths, you will lead a dynamic department and drive the school’s vision for excellence in mathematics education. This is a unique opportunity to make a real impact on student outcomes and to lead with support from experienced mentors and a collaborative leadership team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a high-performing maths department, ensuring consistent delivery of outstanding teaching and learning.
- Deliver high-quality instruction in Key Stages 3 and 4, with a focus on raising student achievement and GCSE outcomes.
- Support and develop teaching staff through mentoring, professional development, and collaborative planning.
- Implement evidence-based strategies to enhance student engagement and attainment in maths.
- Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team and Trust maths leaders to ensure alignment with the school’s strategic goals.
- Foster a culture of inclusion and high expectations, ensuring all students have the opportunity to succeed.
- Manage departmental resources and maintain a well-organised maths wing with seven dedicated classrooms.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the school’s maths curriculum and teaching practices.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Proven experience in teaching and leading a maths department at Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and support a team.
- Commitment to inclusion and student-centred learning.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Preferred
- Experience in senior leadership roles within education.
- Familiarity with the Outwood Grange Academies Trust ethos and teaching model.
- Experience with restorative practice and relational teaching methods.
- Background in maths curriculum development or assessment strategies.
