The Opportunity:

As Head of Maths, you will lead a dynamic department and drive the school’s vision for excellence in mathematics education. This is a unique opportunity to make a real impact on student outcomes and to lead with support from experienced mentors and a collaborative leadership team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a high-performing maths department, ensuring consistent delivery of outstanding teaching and learning.
  • Deliver high-quality instruction in Key Stages 3 and 4, with a focus on raising student achievement and GCSE outcomes.
  • Support and develop teaching staff through mentoring, professional development, and collaborative planning.
  • Implement evidence-based strategies to enhance student engagement and attainment in maths.
  • Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team and Trust maths leaders to ensure alignment with the school’s strategic goals.
  • Foster a culture of inclusion and high expectations, ensuring all students have the opportunity to succeed.
  • Manage departmental resources and maintain a well-organised maths wing with seven dedicated classrooms.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the school’s maths curriculum and teaching practices.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in teaching and leading a maths department at Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and support a team.
  • Commitment to inclusion and student-centred learning.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in senior leadership roles within education.
  • Familiarity with the Outwood Grange Academies Trust ethos and teaching model.
  • Experience with restorative practice and relational teaching methods.
  • Background in maths curriculum development or assessment strategies.
