The Opportunity:
As a Pastoral Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students’ wellbeing and academic success. You will work closely with the pastoral team to ensure a safe, positive environment for all students. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young people’s lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Assistant Headteachers and Heads of Year in delivering high-quality pastoral care.
- Triage and manage student concerns, directing students to appropriate support pathways.
- Act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) and refer cases to DSL or other relevant staff.
- Provide medical support and act as a first aider on site.
- Serve as the main point of contact for students at Student Services and support during key times of the day.
- Ensure students adhere to school expectations and promote a positive learning environment.
- Contribute to safeguarding and wellbeing initiatives in line with child protection procedures.
- Provide administrative support to meet the welfare and pastoral needs of students.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Experience in a pastoral or support role within an educational setting.
- First aid qualifications.
- Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.
Preferred
- Experience in a school or educational environment.
- Knowledge of child protection procedures.
- Experience with pastoral support or student welfare.
- Flexibility to travel between multiple school sites.
