The Opportunity:
As the Head of Media Studies Department, you will lead a dynamic and successful department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all key stages. This role offers the chance to shape and expand a department with an already strong reputation and a focus on innovation and excellence in Media Studies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Media Studies department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning
- Oversee the delivery of Eduqas GCSE and A Level Media Studies courses
- Provide professional leadership and support to colleagues within the department
- Develop and implement a range of extra-curricular activities, including film clubs, workshops, and conferences
- Ensure the effective use of resources, including Apple Macintosh computer suites and Adobe Creative Cloud software
- Support students in achieving academic success and developing practical skills in media production
- Collaborate with the Assistant Headteacher and wider leadership team to improve departmental performance
- Promote a culture of innovation, creativity, and student engagement
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in teaching Media Studies at both GCSE and A Level
- Strong leadership and management skills with a track record in academic success
- Experience in curriculum development and delivery across all key stages
- Familiarity with digital media production tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud
- Ability to manage and motivate a team of teachers and support staff
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Preferred
- Experience in teaching across a range of key stages
- Background in curriculum innovation and student engagement
- Experience with extra-curricular media activities and events
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience in a large, multi-campus school environment
