The Opportunity:

As the Head of Music Department, you will lead and develop a dynamic music program for Key Stage 3 and 4 students, inspiring a love of music and promoting excellence across the school. This is a leadership role for an experienced and motivated educator looking to make an impact in education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the music curriculum for Key Stage 3 and 4 students
  • Inspire students through innovative and engaging teaching methods
  • Manage and coordinate departmental activities and resources effectively
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school to support student development
  • Promote musical excellence and encourage student participation in performances and events
  • Monitor and assess student progress in line with school standards
  • Support the professional growth of music staff within the department
  • Ensure a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A strong passion for music and teaching secondary school students
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills
  • Strong communication skills to work with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Ability to motivate and inspire young learners
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive and respectful learning environment

Preferred

  • Basic knowledge or qualification in music or a related field
  • Experience in departmental leadership or management
