The Opportunity:

As the Head of Music, you will lead and inspire a team of music teachers, driving innovation and excellence in music education. This role offers the chance to shape the future of music at a school dedicated to fostering growth, creativity, and success in all areas of learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of Music teachers to ensure high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share outstanding practice and develop a cohesive music curriculum.
  • Foster a culture of creativity, enthusiasm, and continuous improvement in music education.
  • Engage with students, parents, and the wider community through extra-curricular music programs and events.
  • Ensure alignment with the school’s vision and curriculum standards, including the National Curriculum for England and UAE Ministry of Education requirements.
  • Provide professional development opportunities for music teachers and promote a growth mindset within the department.
  • Contribute to the strategic development of the school’s music program and extracurricular offerings.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of music teaching and learning to ensure continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Hold a BEd or Bachelor's degree in Music with PGCE / PGDE or equivalent
  • Proven experience in leading and mentoring a team of music teachers
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver outstanding learning and teaching
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely with colleagues, students, and parents
  • A growth mindset with a focus on reflection and solution-based approaches
  • Creativity and enthusiasm in teaching and curriculum development

Preferred

  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language
  • Familiarity with international curricula, such as the International GCSE and A Level
  • Experience in leading a department or program within a large, diverse school setting
  • Strong leadership and management experience in an educational context
