The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head of PE to lead a successful department and inspire students through high-quality teaching and sporting excellence. This role offers the opportunity to shape a dynamic PE programme and support students in achieving success in both academic and sporting pursuits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the PE department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
- Deliver PE and Sports Science lessons across Key Stage 3 and 4, including GCSE PE and BTEC National Certificate courses.
- Support students in competing in local, regional, and national sporting events.
- Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies to enhance student engagement and achievement.
- Work closely with colleagues to promote a culture of excellence and inclusion within the school.
- Manage departmental resources, timetables, and staff effectively.
- Contribute to the school’s wider vision and values, including its commitment to diversity and safeguarding.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in Physical Education.
- Proven ability to teach and assess GCSE PE and Sports Science.
- Strong subject knowledge in gymnastics, trampolining, or aerobics.
- Experience in managing a PE department and leading a team of staff.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Preferred
- Experience in delivering BTEC National Certificate courses.
- Background in coaching or competitive sports.
- Experience with pastoral care and safeguarding.
- Familiarity with innovative teaching and learning approaches.
