The Opportunity:

As the Head of PE, you will lead and inspire a successful Physical Education Team, delivering creative and engaging lessons that motivate students and foster a lifelong passion for learning through PE. This is a leadership role with the potential to make a real impact on student development and school culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the PE department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all key stages.
  • Develop and implement a dynamic and innovative PE curriculum that aligns with the school’s vision and values.
  • Support and mentor PE staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring all pupils achieve their full potential in PE.
  • Coordinate extracurricular activities and sporting events to promote physical health and school spirit.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate PE with broader school initiatives and student well-being.
  • Ensure the safe and effective use of all PE facilities and equipment.
  • Represent the PE department at school meetings and events, promoting the value of PE within the wider school community.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in leading a PE department.
  • Proven track record in delivering high-quality PE lessons and student engagement.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate staff.
  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment in PE.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in working with students of diverse abilities and backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in PE education.
  • Experience in coaching or managing sports teams.
  • Familiarity with inclusive PE practices and student well-being initiatives.
