The Opportunity:
As the Head of Physics, you will lead a forward-thinking faculty dedicated to delivering outstanding results at both GCSE and A Level. This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of physics education and inspire the next generation of scientists and thinkers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Physics department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve student achievement and engagement.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the school to promote a culture of excellence and professional development.
- Oversee the planning and delivery of the Physics curriculum, including enrichment activities and extra-curricular opportunities.
- Support the professional growth of Physics teachers through mentoring and CPD.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
- Represent the department at faculty and whole-school meetings.
- Ensure the department maintains a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with relevant subject knowledge in Physics.
- Proven leadership experience within a school or college setting.
- Strong track record of achieving high academic results in Physics.
- Experience in curriculum development and departmental management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a department within a large, successful school.
- Knowledge of current trends and innovations in science education.
- Experience with Ofsted inspections and school improvement planning.
- Experience in mentoring and supporting staff development.
- Familiarity with using technology to enhance teaching and learning.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary on the main scale or upper scale with fringe benefits.
- Additional TLR2.2 allowance of £5,863 per annum.
