The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a Head of Mathematics to lead a thriving department and build upon its successful achievements. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Mathematics department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all key stages.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve student achievement and engagement in Mathematics.
  • Oversee the planning, delivery, and review of Mathematics curriculum and assessment practices.
  • Support and mentor Mathematics staff to enhance teaching standards and professional development.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate Mathematics into cross-curricular learning and enrichment activities.
  • Monitor and report on departmental performance, ensuring alignment with school-wide goals and standards.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive department culture that encourages innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Represent the Mathematics department at school meetings, staff conferences, and external events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in leading a Mathematics department within a school setting.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate staff.
  • In-depth knowledge of Mathematics curriculum and pedagogy at all key stages.
  • Experience in developing and implementing departmental strategies to improve student outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, students, and parents.

Preferred

  • Experience in a similar leadership role within a co-educational school.
  • Familiarity with innovative teaching methods and technologies in Mathematics education.
  • Experience in curriculum development or assessment design.
  • Strong record of student achievement and departmental success.
