The Opportunity:

The Head of Religious Education will lead and deliver high-quality RE and RSE lessons across KS3-KS5 and contribute to the pastoral care of students. This is an opportunity to shape the spiritual and moral development of young people in a school recognized for its excellence and commitment to Catholic values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and deliver RE and RSE lessons across key stages 3 to 5.
  • Support the development and implementation of the whole school RSE curriculum.
  • Provide pastoral care and guidance to students in line with the school's values.
  • Work collaboratively with the Assistant Headteacher and other senior leaders.
  • Promote Catholic values and beliefs within the school community.
  • Contribute to staff development and CPD initiatives.
  • Ensure lessons are engaging, relevant, and aligned with the school’s mission.
  • Encourage student participation in school life and wider enrichment activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in Religious Education.
  • Proven ability to lead and deliver RE at KS3-KS5.
  • Strong understanding of Catholic values and beliefs.
  • Excellent communication and pastoral care skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading RSE curriculum development.
  • Background in pastoral care or student support.
  • Experience in a Catholic or faith-based educational setting.
  • Strong leadership and team-working skills.
  • Familiarity with Ofsted standards and school improvement processes.
