Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the Religious Studies department to ensure high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Deliver inspiring and impactful lessons that promote critical thinking and understanding of major world religions.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school to contribute to the overall ethos and academic success of students.
  • Support the development of the curriculum, including Islam and Christianity, in line with the latest educational research.
  • Mentor and develop teaching staff within the department.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
  • Represent the department in school meetings and contribute to strategic planning.
  • Encourage student engagement and participation through extracurricular activities and events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in Religious Studies at the secondary level.
  • Strong subject knowledge, including Islam and Christianity.
  • Excellent classroom management and teaching skills.
  • Experience in leading and developing a department.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and innovation.
  • Familiarity with data-driven teaching and learning strategies.
  • Experience in pastoral care or student support.
  • Leadership experience in a school setting.
  • Experience with multi-cultural and inclusive education.
