Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Humanities department to ensure outstanding teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a high-quality curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
  • Support and mentor staff to enhance teaching practice and student outcomes.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to align departmental goals with school-wide priorities.
  • Promote a culture of inclusion, respect, and high academic standards.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Represent the department at school and external events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience as a Head of Department in a secondary school setting.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of Humanities subjects and curriculum development.
  • Experience in driving academic improvement and student achievement.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

Preferred

  • Experience in a multi-academy trust or similar educational partnership.
  • Leadership experience within a large school environment.
  • Experience with curriculum innovation and assessment strategies.
  • Familiarity with Ofsted standards and school improvement processes.
