The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Head of Science to lead a thriving and growing department that has achieved outstanding results at both GCSE and A Level. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the future of Science education and driving continued academic excellence for boys at all levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a dynamic Science department with a strong focus on practical learning and student outcomes.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching and learning that supports the academic progress of students at both Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5.
  • Work with the Science technician to ensure that all lessons are delivered in state-of-the-art facilities.
  • Support the continued growth of the department through strategic planning and curriculum development.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration among Science staff.
  • Monitor and evaluate student performance to ensure continued improvement and success.
  • Promote the importance of Science within the school community and beyond.
  • Collaborate with other departments to enhance the overall educational experience for students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a Science department.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
  • Experience in developing and delivering a practical, engaging Science curriculum.
  • Demonstrated success in improving student outcomes at GCSE and A Level.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school with a strong focus on boys' education.
  • Background in a school with a Christian ethos or values-based education.
  • Experience in leading a department through a period of growth and expansion.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based teaching methods and CPD.
