The Opportunity:

As the Head of Science, you will lead a team of Science teachers and drive high-quality teaching and learning across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. This role is ideal for an experienced professional who is passionate about fostering a collaborative, high-performing department and promoting a strong STEM ethos throughout the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of Science teachers, providing coaching, support, and professional development.
  • Oversee curriculum planning, assessment, and data analysis to ensure high standards of teaching and student outcomes.
  • Promote a strong STEM ethos through practical, inquiry-based learning and cross-curricular collaboration.
  • Ensure a safe, well-resourced laboratory environment that supports innovation and academic excellence.
  • Drive departmental improvement planning and embed engaging, concept-driven teaching strategies.
  • Support the academic and pastoral wellbeing of students, aligning with the school’s values and expectations.
  • Build strong relationships with parents and carers, communicating effectively about curriculum and student progress.
  • Contribute to school improvement initiatives and wider whole-school life.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a relevant subject with PGCE / QTS (or equivalent teaching qualification).
  • Experience teaching the English National Curriculum, preferably in an international setting.
  • Strong classroom management skills and commitment to student wellbeing.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational skills.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to lead and coach a team.

Preferred

  • Experience teaching Biology, Chemistry, and Physics up to GCSE and A Level.
  • Familiarity with AI-driven learning and innovative teaching methods.
  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment strategy.
