The Opportunity:

As a Drama Teacher, you will play a key role in shaping students’ creative and expressive abilities through engaging and innovative lessons. You will help students develop performance, communication, and critical thinking skills, while also leading school productions and extracurricular activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality Drama lessons in line with the school’s curriculum and planning frameworks.
  • Develop students’ performance, communication, and critical thinking skills through practical and theoretical learning.
  • Structure lessons effectively, maintaining pace, challenge, and engagement.
  • Motivate and challenge all students through effective differentiation for individuals and groups.
  • Organise and direct school productions, performances, and drama-related extracurricular activities.
  • Incorporate peer and self-assessment to support reflection and improvement.
  • Adapt teaching to meet the needs of all learners, including students of determination (SEN) and EAL students.
  • Ensure students understand key drama terminology and theatrical conventions.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A minimum of 2 years’ full-time teaching experience in the UK or in a British Curriculum school.
  • Excellent knowledge of the National Curriculum for England (Drama/Performing Arts) and current assessment practices.
  • Experience in directing productions or leading performance-based projects.
  • Strong classroom management skills within practical learning environments.
  • Experience using data systems, student tracking, intervention strategies, and reporting.

Preferred

  • Confidence in using IT and digital media to enhance learning.
  • A willingness to build strong partnerships with parents.
  • Experience in English language acquisition and early literacy development.
