The Opportunity:

As the Head of Social Science Teacher, you will lead and inspire students in subjects such as Psychology, Sociology, and Criminology. This is a key role in shaping the curriculum and driving academic success for all pupils. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Social Science department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a curriculum that meets the needs of all students and aligns with school values.
  • Work collaboratively with other key staff to raise achievement and improve student outcomes.
  • Support and mentor other teachers within the department.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
  • Represent the department in meetings and contribute to school-wide initiatives.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • Stay up to date with developments in Social Science education and best practice.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in Social Science subjects, including Psychology, Sociology, and Criminology.
  • Proven ability to raise student achievement and improve outcomes.
  • Experience in a leadership or senior teaching role.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to the school’s values and mission.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and leadership.
  • Familiarity with inclusive education and supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language.
  • Leadership qualifications or training.
