The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Social Sciences to lead its department and continue its tradition of outstanding academic results. The ideal candidate will be passionate about Social Sciences and capable of inspiring both students and staff to achieve excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Social Sciences department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve student outcomes and departmental performance.
  • Oversee the planning and delivery of A Level and GCSE courses across Economics, Politics, and Psychology.
  • Support and mentor teachers within the department to enhance professional development.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring consistent achievement in public examinations.
  • Promote the use of ICT and innovative teaching methods in lessons.
  • Collaborate with other departments to enhance cross-curricular learning opportunities.
  • Represent the department at staff meetings and school events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience as a highly qualified and experienced teacher to A Level.
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing a team effectively.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve and maintain high academic results.
  • Strong computer literacy and the ability to integrate ICT into teaching.

Preferred

  • Specialism in Economics, Politics, or Psychology.
  • Experience in curriculum development and departmental leadership.
  • Background in a Catholic educational environment.
  • Experience in safeguarding and child protection procedures.
