The Opportunity:
As the Head of Social Sciences, you will lead and manage the department, delivering high-quality teaching and learning in Sociology, Psychology, and Health and Social Care. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Social Sciences Department, ensuring alignment with school priorities and values.
- Teach Sociology, Psychology, and Health and Social Care to Key Stages 4 and 5 as required.
- Contribute to the development and review of Schemes of Work and teaching resources.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing feedback to students and parents.
- Coordinate internal and external examinations, including preparation for GCSE and GCE.
- Oversee staff development, including performance management, INSET, and CPDL.
- Manage departmental budgets, resources, and teaching spaces effectively.
- Promote a positive and inclusive departmental culture, aligned with the school’s behaviour and values.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with relevant experience in Social Sciences.
- Proven leadership experience in a school department.
- Strong knowledge of Sociology, Psychology, and Health and Social Care curricula.
- Ability to plan and deliver high-quality lessons and resources.
- Experience in managing and developing staff, including performance management.
Preferred
- Experience in curriculum leadership and school improvement.
- Familiarity with educational technologies and online learning platforms.
- Experience in managing departmental budgets and resources.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
