The Opportunity:
As the Head of Social Sciences, you will lead a vibrant school that supports over 1800 students across a range of A Level and vocational qualifications. This is a key leadership role for someone passionate about Social Sciences and committed to driving continuous improvement and excellence in teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a large and diverse team of staff and students across multiple qualifications.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve student outcomes and raise standards in Social Sciences and Law.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment across all subjects.
- Work closely with external partners and employers to align curriculum with industry needs.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of the school, providing regular reports and recommendations for improvement.
- Support the professional development of staff through training, mentoring, and leadership opportunities.
- Promote a positive and inclusive culture within the school that supports both students and staff.
- Manage the school’s resources effectively, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven leadership experience in a similar role within a further education setting.
- Strong subject knowledge in Social Sciences or Law.
- A track record of delivering high standards in teaching and learning.
- Experience in managing large teams and leading school improvement initiatives.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred
- Experience in curriculum development and innovation.
- Familiarity with vocational and T Level qualifications.
- Experience in working with employers and industry partners.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
