The Opportunity:

As the Head of Social Sciences, you will lead a vibrant school that supports over 1800 students across a range of A Level and vocational qualifications. This is a key leadership role for someone passionate about Social Sciences and committed to driving continuous improvement and excellence in teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a large and diverse team of staff and students across multiple qualifications.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve student outcomes and raise standards in Social Sciences and Law.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment across all subjects.
  • Work closely with external partners and employers to align curriculum with industry needs.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the school, providing regular reports and recommendations for improvement.
  • Support the professional development of staff through training, mentoring, and leadership opportunities.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive culture within the school that supports both students and staff.
  • Manage the school’s resources effectively, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a similar role within a further education setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Social Sciences or Law.
  • A track record of delivering high standards in teaching and learning.
  • Experience in managing large teams and leading school improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and innovation.
  • Familiarity with vocational and T Level qualifications.
  • Experience in working with employers and industry partners.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
