The Opportunity:
As a Learning Resource Centre Manager, you will lead the development and management of a vibrant, inclusive hub that promotes reading for pleasure and supports literacy across the school. This is a dynamic role that combines resource management with direct impact on student outcomes and school-wide reading initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Learning Resource Centre to ensure it is a welcoming and inspiring space for students.
- Develop and implement literacy initiatives and whole-school reading programmes in collaboration with the Reading and Literacy Lead and English department.
- Support students through targeted interventions and activities that encourage a love of reading and improve literacy outcomes.
- Work closely with staff to ensure the Learning Resource Centre aligns with the school’s vision and values.
- Maintain and update resources, systems, and data to support effective management and usage of the centre.
- Promote inclusivity and ensure all students have access to a wide range of reading materials and support.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the school to enhance teaching and learning through library and resource provision.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of literacy initiatives and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Strong organisational and communication skills with the ability to manage systems, spaces, and relationships effectively.
- Experience in a school or library setting, with a demonstrated passion for reading and inclusion.
- Confidence in using ICT and data systems to support resource management and reporting.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a wide range of colleagues and students.
- Commitment to promoting literacy and making a meaningful difference to student outcomes.
Preferred
- Experience in leading or managing a Learning Resource Centre or similar educational setting.
- Knowledge of literacy development strategies and best practices in education.
- Experience with literacy initiatives and whole-school reading programmes.
- Familiarity with the principles of inclusion and differentiated learning support.
