The Opportunity:

As a Head of Year, you will play a key role in supporting student wellbeing, behaviour, and academic progress. This is a pivotal position within the school, offering the opportunity to make a real impact on student outcomes and school culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead a cohort of students, ensuring their academic, social, and emotional needs are met
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve student behaviour, attendance, and engagement
  • Build strong relationships with students, parents, and staff to support a positive learning environment
  • Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to deliver the school’s vision and strategic goals
  • Provide pastoral support and guidance to students, including those with additional needs
  • Monitor and report on student progress, attendance, and behaviour regularly
  • Lead and motivate a team of teachers and support staff to achieve high standards
  • Organise and deliver events and activities that enhance student experience and school community

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a pastoral leadership role within a secondary school setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead a group of students effectively
  • Experience in promoting student wellbeing and behaviour management
  • Commitment to high academic standards and student achievement
  • Excellent organisational and ICT skills

Preferred

  • Subject expertise in English and experience teaching PSHCE
  • Experience in developing staff and leading professional learning initiatives
  • Background in a collaborative, multi-academy trust or partnership environment
  • Experience of working within a comprehensive, inclusive school setting
