The Opportunity:

As the Head of Year - Sixth Form, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the academic and personal development of students in the sixth form. This is a leadership position that demands strong organisational skills, a commitment to student welfare, and the ability to inspire and guide a team of educators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the academic and pastoral needs of sixth form students.
  • Develop and implement strategies to support student achievement and well-being.
  • Coordinate with subject leaders and staff to ensure a cohesive and effective learning environment.
  • Monitor student progress and provide targeted support where needed.
  • Represent the school at relevant meetings and events.
  • Foster strong relationships with students, parents, and the wider community.
  • Ensure compliance with school policies and safeguarding procedures.
  • Support the school’s vision and values in all aspects of the role.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a school or educational setting.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and supporting sixth form students.
  • A relevant teaching qualification and experience in education.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development or strategic planning.
  • Experience with pastoral care and student welfare initiatives.
  • Familiarity with Ofsted standards and school improvement processes.
  • Experience in leading large teams or managing complex projects.
