The Opportunity:

As a Head of Year, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the pastoral system and supporting students’ academic and personal development. This is an exciting opportunity to lead behaviour, safety, and welfare initiatives, ensuring students are prepared for the challenges of the 21st century.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor student achievement, attendance, uniform, punctuality, homework, and behaviour
  • Lead and set the tone for the year group through assemblies, school events, and pastoral curriculum time
  • Ensure high attendance and support for students with special educational needs
  • Collaborate with parents to keep them engaged in their child's development
  • Enforce excellent standards of behaviour and provide feedback in line with school policy
  • Analyse student data to inform planning and intervention strategies
  • Teach across the 11–18 age range and ensure outstanding progress in your subject
  • Contribute to CPD and share best practice through coaching and open-door teaching
  • Organise enrichment activities, trips, and Innovation Days to extend the curriculum
  • Lead PSHE and tutor time curriculum for the relevant year groups

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in leading students to achieve outstanding results
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Experience in pastoral care and behaviour management
  • Ability to monitor and analyse student data effectively
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching across multiple year groups
  • Background in curriculum development or enrichment programme delivery
  • Experience with pastoral systems and student welfare initiatives
  • Familiarity with innovative teaching methods and the use of ICT in education
