The Opportunity:
As the Head of Computer Science, you will lead the development and delivery of a dynamic and innovative Computing curriculum for students aged 11-18. This role offers the opportunity to shape a bespoke, challenging curriculum that prepares students for a digitally enhanced future and to inspire the next generation of digital leaders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and deliver Computer Science teaching across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5
- Design and implement a stimulating, relevant, and challenging Computing curriculum
- Ensure high standards of teaching and learning with a focus on student progress and achievement
- Monitor and assess student progress, with a particular emphasis on supporting disadvantaged learners
- Contribute to and lead Continuing Professional Development (CPD) initiatives across the school
- Promote Computer Science across the school through engaging learning opportunities and extracurricular activities
- Manage and support teaching staff within the Computer Science department
- Ensure a well-organised and stimulating learning environment in the classroom
- Collaborate with colleagues to evaluate student progress and plan targeted interventions
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in Computer Science or a related subject
- Proven leadership experience in a school or educational setting
- Strong knowledge of the National Curriculum and computing education
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Ability to lead and inspire a team of teachers and support staff
Preferred
- Experience in curriculum development and innovation
- Familiarity with Google educational tools and ICT integration
- Experience in leading CPD and professional development programs
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Experience in working with students from diverse backgrounds
