The Opportunity:

As the Head of Computer Science, you will lead the development and delivery of a dynamic and innovative Computing curriculum for students aged 11-18. This role offers the opportunity to shape a bespoke, challenging curriculum that prepares students for a digitally enhanced future and to inspire the next generation of digital leaders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and deliver Computer Science teaching across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5
  • Design and implement a stimulating, relevant, and challenging Computing curriculum
  • Ensure high standards of teaching and learning with a focus on student progress and achievement
  • Monitor and assess student progress, with a particular emphasis on supporting disadvantaged learners
  • Contribute to and lead Continuing Professional Development (CPD) initiatives across the school
  • Promote Computer Science across the school through engaging learning opportunities and extracurricular activities
  • Manage and support teaching staff within the Computer Science department
  • Ensure a well-organised and stimulating learning environment in the classroom
  • Collaborate with colleagues to evaluate student progress and plan targeted interventions

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in Computer Science or a related subject
  • Proven leadership experience in a school or educational setting
  • Strong knowledge of the National Curriculum and computing education
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to lead and inspire a team of teachers and support staff

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and innovation
  • Familiarity with Google educational tools and ICT integration
  • Experience in leading CPD and professional development programs
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience in working with students from diverse backgrounds
